The Role



You're someone with a growing passion for accessibility. You're eager to learn more, increase your knowledge and specialise in accessibility. You're looking to take the next step and move into a dedicated accessibility role, where you will be guided and trained, developing your skills and helping further the accessibility of our platform, products, design systems and customer websites.



You'll be joining our Accessibility Lead to form a dedicated accessibility team servicing and supporting our internal creative and product teams and our customers with all things related to accessibility.



You'll receive in-house accessibility training and on-demand external training from industry leaders such as Deque. You'll shadow and work closely with our Accessibility lead, increasing your knowledge while you grow into the role.

Key Objectives and qualities:



Wanting to move into a dedicated accessibility role and delve deeper into the more technical aspects of accessibility
Able to manage their own time and the demands of the role while honouring their commitments to the team
Willing to learn, expand their knowledge of accessibility, and, where necessary, share that knowledge with others both internally and externally
Excited about working on projects furthering the accessibility of our platform, products, design systems and the websites we create for our customers
A confident communicator, happy to communicate and discuss accessibility requirements with a wide audience, ranging from developers, testers, product owners, customers and more.



Key Responsibilities:



Conducting accessibility audits (once trained) and design reviews of websites, design systems, UI components and our products using international accessibility standards and guidelines and a range of techniques, including automated and manual testing.
Reporting issues identified during testing and audits. Retesting issues once fixed by internal teams.
Using your frontend development knowledge to fix accessibility issues identified in our software and products
Advising other teams on issues and recommended fixes
Advising customers on accessibility issues raised via our support ticket system
Contributing to internal accessibility documentation and checklists
Contributing to content for training courses both internally for our various teams and externally for customers and participating in training delivery



Requirements & Skills:



A background in frontend development with a solid knowledge of the technologies involved (Semantic HTML, CSS and Javascript)
A moderate understanding of ARIA
Knowledge of WCAG and some accessibility best practices
Knowledge of browser developer tools in Edge, Chrome, Firefox and Safari
Awareness of accessibility tools like AXE, Site Improve, Accessibility Insights and Colour Contrast Analyser
Knowledge of awareness of screen readers, magnifiers, speech recognition and other assistive technologies

Salary Range: £30000 - £4000
