Job Description

Department Overview: California is facing unprecedented environmental challenges including drought, extreme heat, and wildfires. In response, PG&E is adapting the way it designs and operates its electrical system through initiatives like the Community Wildfire Safety Program (CWSP). This program aims to enhance safety and reduce wildfire risks by implementing improved wildfire prevention measures, emergency response practices, and the hardening of electrical infrastructure. Position Summary: Join our team as we continue to refine the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) process, crucial for preventing utility-related ignitions during high fire danger periods. The PSPS Team is dedicated to the successful execution of de-energization events, with a focus on stakeholder engagement and operational readiness across all related functions. Job Responsibilities: * Review and validate the accessibility of publicly posted documents (PDFs, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and web-based materials. * Conduct accessibility testing using both automated tools and manual techniques, including assistive technologies when suitable. * Support and configure enterprise platforms that publish or store public content such as document management systems and customer-facing portals. * Collaborate with application owners and vendors to address accessibility gaps in platforms and templates. * Recommend enhancements to systems and processes to minimize recurring accessibility issues. * Develop and maintain accessibility standards, templates, and guidance for document and content creators. * Assist in accessibility audits and regulatory inquiries by providing documentation, remediation tracking, and technical evidence. * Create effective remediation workflows and quality controls for existing and new content. * Demonstrate strong documentation and organizational skills to support regulatory filings and other data requests. * Work with large datasets, ensuring attention to detail and data integrity. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: * Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, technology, or a related field at an accredited University. * Students must continue their education towards their degree during or after the internship. Desired Skills: * Knowledgeable in ADA, WCAG 2.1+, and Section 508 standards. * Experience with accessible document remediation (PDFs, Office files). * Familiar with tools such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, PAC, screen readers (JAWS/NVDA/VoiceOver), and accessibility checkers. * Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to uphold structured standards. * Comfortable collaborating with non-technical staff to resolve content issues proactively. PG&E is unable to provide VISA sponsorship to students on an F-1, J-1, or other student visa for this position.
