Mid-level Software Tester

****Job Summary**** * Seeking a Mid-level Software Tester responsible for ensuring the quality, functionality, accessibility, and reliability of enterprise web applications through a combination of manual and automated testing * The Software Tester will work closely with developers, business analysts, product owners, and fellow testers to validate business requirements, identify defects, and support the successful delivery of software releases * This position contributes to all phases of testing, including functional, integration, regression, accessibility, automation, and user acceptance testing * This position performs a combination of manual and automated testing where priorities may shift based on release schedules, UAT activities, and program needs * The ideal candidate should be comfortable executing detailed manual testing while contributing to the continued growth of the program's Selenium automation suite * The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented testing professional with strong manual testing experience and hands-on experience developing and maintaining Selenium-based automation solutions using Java and JUnit * This individual will join an established team of Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Project Managers, Solution Architects, Testers, and Cybersecurity professionals supporting a mission-critical Department of Defense application ****Primary Responsibilities**** * Test Planning and Execution * * Analyze business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and workflows to develop comprehensive test plans and test cases * Develop, maintain, and execute manual test plans, test cases, and test scripts * Perform functional, integration, regression, user acceptance, accessibility, and compliance testing * Prioritize test scenarios based on business impact, risk, and release schedules * Execute tests to validate system functionality, performance, and usability * Design, prepare, and maintain test data to support testing activities * Review test results and evaluate software against business and technical requirements * Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release planning, sprint demos, and retrospectives * Learn program mission objectives, business processes, and system architecture to support effective testing * Test Automation * * Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using Selenium WebDriver, Java, and JUnit * Expand automation coverage by converting manual regression tests into automated scripts * Analyze automation results, investigate failures, and work with developers to resolve issues * Contribute to the ongoing improvement and maintenance of the automation framework * Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency and expand automation coverage * Support future integration of automated testing into GitLab CI/CD pipelines * Defect Management and Collaboration * * Document, track, and retest defects in Jira * Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot issues, validate fixes, and ensure resolution * Participate in defect triage and support prioritization efforts * Communicate testing results, risks, and quality concerns to stakeholders * Work closely with developers, DevOps engineers, UI/UX designers, business analysts, and other testers to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle * Accessibility and Compliance Testing * * Perform Section 508 accessibility testing using tools such as Axe Monitor and JAWS * Validate compliance with accessibility standards and document findings * Collaborate with development teams to resolve accessibility issues and improve user experience * Support testing to ensure compliance with applicable federal and DoD requirements * Process Improvement * * Contribute to testing standards, methodologies, and process improvement initiatives * Help create and maintain testing documentation, user testing guides, and test artifacts * Support continuous improvement efforts that enhance software quality, testing effectiveness, and team efficiency * Work independently while collaborating effectively in a cross-functional Agile team ****Required Qualifications**** * Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Public Trust clearance or higher * At least five years of software quality assurance and testing experience * Experience with manual functional, automation, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing * Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Selenium WebDriver automated test scripts * Proficiency in Java and JUnit * Experience creating test plans, test cases, and test scripts from business requirements and user stories * Experience using Jira for defect tracking and test management * Experience testing web applications * Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments * Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines ****Desired Qualifications**** * Experience with GitLab and CI/CD practices * Experience supporting automation initiatives and enhancing test frameworks * Experience with API testing tools and methodologies * Experience with Section 508 accessibility testing * Experience using accessibility testing tools such as Axe Monitor and JAWS * Familiarity with SAFe Agile practices * Experience supporting DoD, DLA, or other federal government programs * Knowledge of security testing
