Responsibilities - Assess current digital accessibility posture and identify improvement opportunities across city platforms - Develop and implement an enterprise-wide accessibility governance framework and robust roadmap - Establish and optimize accessibility testing, remediation, and reporting workflows - Embed accessibility best practices into procurement, design, development, and content creation processes - Integrate accessibility checks into CI/CD pipelines for continuous compliance - Serve as the technical expert and primary advisor for accessibility policies and standards (WCAG, Section 508, ADA Title II) - Conduct hands-on audits and remediation, ensuring all digital assets meet or exceed compliance requirements - Provide ongoing training, documentation, and quality assurance reviews to city teams and stakeholders - Transition into an advisory capacity, supporting program sustainment, continuous improvement, and organizational self-sufficiency Required Skills and Experience - Minimum 5 years professional experience in digital accessibility - Deep knowledge of WCAG 2.1 (AA/AAA), Section 508, ADA Title II, and assistive technologies (screen readers, magnifiers, voice input, switch devices) - Demonstrated success designing and implementing enterprise accessibility frameworks and policies - Proficient with accessibility testing tools (axe, JAWS, NVDA) and integrating automated checks into CI/CD - Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and training Preferred Skills - Government agency experience on digital transformation or accessibility initiatives - Mobile app accessibility testing - Familiarity with CMS platforms (WordPress) and embedding accessibility into workflows - IAAP certification (CPAC, CPWA, CPACC, WAS) - Experience with inclusive design, user research with people with disabilities, and plain-language content strategy Benefits - Impactful, high-visibility role influencing digital access for all city residents - Flexible hybrid work environment; remote possible for the right candidate - Career growth through leadership of a citywide accessibility program - Opportunity to shape best practices and drive meaningful public sector change - Professional development and training opportunities How to Apply If you have the expertise and drive to lead digital accessibility at scale, apply today with your resume and a brief statement highlighting your relevant experience.
