Job Description

Job Summary Responsible for accessibility evaluations of content within Learning Management Systems (LMS), digital documents (including Word, PDFs, and graphics), and video/audio media. Provides support and guidance in resolving accessibility issues. Contributes to the development of training materials and assists in facilitating accessibility training workshops. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform audits and assessment of digital content within Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas, Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) tools and other digital assets ,including documents (Word, PowerPoint, PDFs) graphics, and media, to identify gaps and accessibility barriers. Oversee implementation of necessary improvements to ensure compliance with institutional policies, and federal and state laws. Record, communicate, and monitor gaps and barriers identified during regular audits and assessments of digital content to respective content owners (e.g., faculty, instructional designers and staff responsible for content). Follow up with content owners on remediation actions taken on the identified digital platform ensuring compliance with institutional policies and federal and state laws. Assist with guidance and recommendations to staff on digital accessibility requirements, remediation strategies and best practices during the procurement and implementation of digital products and services. Assist in the development of training curriculum and conduct training sessions and workshops to raise awareness and enhance the understanding of digital accessibility principles and techniques among faculty and staff. Serve as a subject matter expert for LMS and LTI accessibility features, third-party integrations, and instructional technology tools adopted by the institution. Collaborate with Instructional Services, Online College, and Information Technology to align accessibility guidance, tools, and support workflows. Stay up to date with the latest digital accessibility standards, guidelines, and emerging technologies to continuously improve our digital accessibility practices. Assist in the review of vendor products utilizing ACRs/VPATs or similar documentation to determine their compliance with accessibility standards, such as WCAG 2.x and Section 508. Attend campus committee meetings relevant to position. Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience          ·  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or other technology related field required ·  3 years experience working with assistive technologies and accessible digital tools, including assistive listening devices, screen readers, accessible software, mobile and web applications, and online services required ·  Experience with assessing digital instructional content for accessibility and recommending improvements within Learning Management Systems preferred ·  Experience with Canvas LMS preferred          Licensing & Certification ·  Valid Texas Driver License Special Skills     ·  Learning Management Systems ·  Learning Tools Interoperability ·  MS Office Programs ·  Adobe Acrobat ·  Best Practices for Inclusive Digital Experience Creation and/or Universal Design for Learning ·  Digital Accessibility Standards (e.g., WCAG, Section 508)      Competencies ·  Delivering High Quality Work ·  Accepting Responsibility ·  Serving Customers ·  Supporting Organizational Goals ·  Driving Continuous Improvement ·  Acting with Integrity ·  Thinking Critically ·  Managing Change ·  Communicating Effectively Working Conditions General Office.  Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner.  Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements.  May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
