The Design Team at TELUS Health Virtual Care is the creative engine behind our platform innovation. We sit at the intersection of healthcare complexity and elegant simplicity, responsible for translating clinical needs into intuitive, scalable experiences that drive meaningful health outcomes across our global user base. This position is a contract role covering a maternity leave, expected to last until November 20, 2027. What you'll do To do this effectively, we need a Senior UX/UI Designer who can balance the strategic vision of our platform evolution while mastering the intricate details of healthcare workflows and user needs. You will be the driver behind our design excellence, responsible for defining how our members, providers, and administrators experience care—from discovery and planning through execution and impact. You will be expected to look at a healthcare challenge from 20,000 feet to understand its systemic impact, and then dive into the micro-level user research, design systems, and iterative refinement to solve it. - Lead end-to-end design across web and mobile experiences for members, providers, and administrators. - Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Clinical teams to define user flows, interaction models, and design system patterns. - Translate research insights and behavioral data into clear, actionable design solutions. - Create and iterate on wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs that bring ideas to life. - Ensure consistency and quality through adherence to design systems, accessibility standards, and brand principles. - Facilitate design critiques, co-creation workshops, and collaborative reviews across teams. - Contribute to the evolution of our design system and advocate for best practices in usability and accessibility. - Mentor junior designers and contribute to a culture of craft excellence and continuous improvement. Qualifications What you bring - 5+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design, ideally within digital health, SaaS, or complex platform ecosystems. - A strong portfolio displaying user-centered design process, cross-platform design, and experience solving complex problems. We would like to see how you select design activities that are appropriate for the problems you are trying to solve. - Proficiency in Figma / FigJam - Deep understanding of responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), and usability principles. - Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams. - Ability to think strategically about user experience and system-level design. - Excellent communication and storytelling skills - able to articulate design rationale to diverse stakeholders. - Passion for improving health outcomes and creating meaningful digital experiences that empower people. Nice to Have - Experience designing for healthcare, telehealth, or other regulated industries. - Familiarity with service design, journey mapping, and systems thinking. - Understanding of front-end development principles, (HTML/CSS/React knowledge is a plus). - Experience planning and executing research activities such as concept testing and usability testing. - Exposure to data-driven design or behavior change frameworks. Salary Range: $86,000-$136,000 Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 15% Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience.
