Job Description
**Position Summary** The Web & Digital Accessibility Manager serves as the College’s authority for web governance, digital accessibility compliance, and the strategic management of BRCC’s public‑facing website. This position oversees the enterprise CMS (Content Management System), ensures compliance with all state and federal accessibility requirements, and serves as BRCC’s designated Digital Accessibility Coordinator. The position operates at the intersection of communications, information technology, marketing, and compliance — establishing standards, reducing institutional risk, and ensuring a consistent, high‑quality user experience for all audiences that aligns with the college’s marketing and branding efforts. _Provide two or three sentences summarizing the major purpose of the position. In other words, “Why does the position exist?”_ **Duties and Responsibilities** **_Essential Duties_**_: These are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation(s). Briefly describe a maximum of 10 duties and the approximate percentage of time performing each. The percentage of time for each duty should be at least 5% and no greater than 40%. The total percentage of time must equal 100% and must include 5% allocated as “Other duties as assigned.”_ **Web Administration & CMS Management – 25%** * Administer and maintain the College’s enterprise CMS (Content Management System), including templates, workflows, and user permissions * Perform technical updates, code‑level fixes, and performance optimization * Provide front‑end development support (HTML, CSS [Cascading Style Sheets], JavaScript) * Troubleshoot issues with integrations, third‑party tools, and user‑facing functionality * Coordinate with IT and vendors on hosting, security, and performance **Digital Accessibility Compliance – 25%** * Lead institutional compliance with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.2 AA, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), Section 508, and PPM 74 (Louisiana Policy and Procedure Memorandum Number 74), and future standards as they evolve over time * Conduct manual and automated accessibility audits of content and templates * Remediate accessibility issues at both the content and code level * Validate accessibility using assistive technologies * Review third‑party tools and VPATs (Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates) for compliance * Maintain documentation, reporting, and communication related to accessibility initiatives * Conduct campus-wide accessibility training for employees **Content Operations & Campus Support – 25%** * Manage a distributed network of campus content editors; develop documentation, checklists, and resources for campus contributors * Partner with departments to improve clarity and effectiveness of high‑impact content * Create web pages, edit content, post updates and emergency messages as needed, and support campus with all necessary web content. **Web Governance – 15%** * Help develop, implement, and enforce web governance and accessibility policies * Establish standards for content quality, metadata, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), and publishing workflows * Support procurement processes by evaluating accessibility conformance **Analytics – 10%** * Monitor analytics to inform improvements in navigation, content, and user experience * Track accessibility metrics and remediation progress * Identify systemic issues and implement scalable, template‑level solutions * Stay current with evolving standards in accessibility, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), UX (User Experience), and digital strategy **Minimum Qualifications** _Indicate the minimum qualifications necessary to perform the job. Indicate the field of study required or acceptable._ Bachelor’s Master’s PhD MD JD**X Other**: · Field(s) of Study: High school diploma or equivalency, and: * Certifications/Licenses Required: Certification in digital marketing, such as DMI-CDMP (Digital Marketing Institute–Certified Digital Marketing Professional) or comparable certification * Certification in web/digital accessibility, such as CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies), CPWA (Certified Professional in Web Accessibility), WAS (Web Accessibility Specialist) or other WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) certifications. **Required Experience****:** _Indicate the minimum number of years and type of experience required to perform the job._ * 5 years of experience with CMS (Content Management System) administration and front‑end web development (HTML, CSS [Cascading Style Sheets], JavaScript, Python) * 5 years of experience with Web/Digital Accessibility best practices, tools, regulations and policies * 3 years of experience working in digital communications, marketing or PR _Indicate if any combination of specific experience, training and education may be substituted for the required education or experience._ . **Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities****:**_List up to 10 specific Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities (KSAs) required for the successful performance in this position. Indicate the level of proficiency needed for each KSA using Advanced, Proficient, or Basic._ * Demonstrated knowledge of HTML, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), JavaScript and Python * Proven knowledge of WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), Section 508, and digital accessibility best practices * Extensive experience with analytics tools such as GA4 (Google Analytics 4) * Extensive experience using Adobe Creative Suite products * Strong communication, organizational, and project‑management skills * Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty and staff **Preferred Qualifications** _Indicate any education, experience, or skills beyond the stated required level that may be given special consideration._ **Preferred Education****:** **X Bachelor’s** Master’s PhD MD JD Other: Field(s) of Study: Bachelor’s degree in web development, digital communications, information systems, or related field * Certifications/Licenses Required: Multiple certifications in web/digital accessibility, such as CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies), CPWA (Certified Professional in Web Accessibility), WAS (Web Accessibility Specialist) or other WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) certifications. **Preferred Experience****:** * More than 8 years of experience with CMS (Content Management System) administration and front‑end web development (HTML, CSS [Cascading Style Sheets], JavaScript, Python) * More than 8 years of experience with Web/Digital Accessibility best practices, tools, regulations and policies * More than 3 years of experience working in digital communications, marketing or PR in higher education or public‑sector environments **Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities** * More than 3 years of experience conducting accessibility audits, training and remediation for large, public organizations * Proven familiarity with Modern Campus or similar enterprise CMS (Content Management System) platforms * Demonstrated knowledge of SEO (Search Engine Optimization), content strategy, and UX (User Experience) principles * Proven ability to create and promote content and news effectively on websites * Demonstrated knowledge of web marketing strategies and practices * Experience with student recruitment on college/university websites **Physical and Mental Demands** _The following apply to all positions within BRCC._ * Ability to work in excess of 40 hours a week, which may include nights and weekends * Ability to view a computer screen for long periods of time * Ability to function in a high-pressure, stressful environment and meet stringent deadlines * Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment * Ability to travel as required and work at different locations as required * Ability to read, write and speak English at the level equal to or greater than the national standards for a college graduate _Indicate below the approximate percentage of time an incumbent would spend doing the activities listed in the table below:_ **Minimally** **(up to 10%** **of the time)** **Occasionally** **(10% to 25%** **of the time)** **Regularly** **(25% to 50%** **of the time)** **Frequently** **(> 50% of the time)** Bend X Carry/Lift < 10 lbs.
