Overview:

McGraw-Hill Education, the leading provider of digital and print educational materials is looking for a creative, innovative, strategic Associate Academic Designer (Editorial), Science for our 6-8 middle school programs.


As part of our PreK-12 business, you’ll be part of a team that creates robust digital tools, curriculum and learning solutions in a variety of formats that are used by millions of educators and students every day. The Associate Academic Designer for Middle School Science is a digital savvy content and curriculum expert, responsible and accountable for assembling high-quality content based on specific product requirements for 6-8 Science programs.


This position is remote for candidates who reside in the U.S.

This position will be filled as a 12-month contract.


Your contribution to the team includes:

Collaborate with the Lead Digital Academic Designer and Senior Academic Designer to build the digital product story.
Work with the Learning Design Studio Accessibility team and WCAG 2.0 Accessibility guidelines to ensure product development meets all accessibility requirements.
Support the team in digital content strategy in various delivery formats and classroom settings.
Fully understand the digital authoring tools and digital learning environment.
Follow approved workflows at all stages and meet all intermediate and final schedules.
Manage processes for digital products including coordination of templates, trackers, and digital content development guidelines.
Identify and suggest digital solutions for issues that arise during development.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that product requirements, project schedules, and product goals are met.
Work on digital product tasks such as creating and reviewing products, metadata tagging, concept mapping, and digital editing.

What you'll need to be successful:

Bachelor's degree in a science content area.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, which include a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing, and grammar and a strong attention to detail.
Effective organizational and time management skills; productive, efficient work habits and the ability to prioritize, multitask, and exhibit flexibility.
The successful candidate must be self-motivated and able to work out next steps in the workflow.
The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
The successful candidate must be organized, and detail- and deadline-oriented.

A successful candidate should have:

Previous middle school teaching experience.
Experience with Content Management Systems.
Experience in instructional design or educational technology for middle school curriculum.
Ability to create and visualize animated and interactive content.
Two or more years of work-related experience in education, educational publishing, or digital content development.
Work-related experience with educational technology.

The pay range for this position is between $48,000 - $55,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. Additionally, a full range of medical and/or other benefits may be provided, depending on the position offered.This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act and the New York City Pay Transparency Act.
