The Accessibility Center of Excellence seeks energetic, motivated and resourceful individuals to join our growing team of 45 people. The Accessibility Center of Excellence serves the UnitedHealth Group enterprise (Optum and UnitedHealthcare), providing guidance, training and talent to product teams as they build solutions that ensure everyone can access and use Optum and UHC products.

The position of Digital Accessibility Liaison will challenge your ability to adapt in a fast changing environment. As digital accessibility liaison for a mid-sized team, you will be responsible for planning, managing and reporting on projects that drive practice objectives of the Accessibility Center of Excellence, providing subject matter expertise to the team in areas including project scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation and facilitation. You’ll also make presentations to management on project updates and expected results, helping to drive integration and maturity of accessibility practices across the organization.

The ideal candidate for this position in our Accessibility CoE will have a wide range of knowledge around User Accessibility and Operational success and be in charge of many duties such as: Project management, tracking funding, resource allocation, reporting & compliance. This person should be able to work within the primary customer focus as well as translate technical process and initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

Establish and coordinate projects that will meet objectives for the practice.
Define and manage schedule, budget, and resources as well as tracking and reporting against plan for a mid-sized team.
Collect, analyze and maintain financial forecast information (e.g. labor, hardware, software), using input from applicable sources.
Work with stakeholders to establish/apply quality objectives, criteria, standards and levels using appropriate quality management methods.
Identify and forecast variances and trends to ensure that project schedules and resource requirements are met.
Develop, communicate and implement issue management plans and strategies.
Demonstrate knowledge of operations, goals, and policies and procedures of internal business partners in order to provide effective support.
Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in an environment requiring flexibility, agility and the ability to adapt to change.
Seek feedback from stakeholders to determine overall success of projects.
Ensure performance is tracked accurately utilizing internal tools and processes (e.g., dashboards; scorecards; reports).
Assess project effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend changes.

Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
5+ years working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative technical environment collaboratively and productively with both diverse teams and independently.
3+ years of experience with an accessibility program and a desire to improve products for people with disabilities
3+ years of project management experience using data and information to make business decisions
3+ years of experience with strategic planning, risk management, and change management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills especially working in between the Optum Developers and the User/Business Contacts.
If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained.

Preferred Qualifications:

Solid Proficiency with Microsoft Office and MS Project

Familiarity with Agile development methodology
Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and help manage project resources
Comfortable with the development of reports and presenting to management
Ability to work collaboratively and productively both with diverse teams and independently
Solid soft skills and experience working with teams who may not have any understanding of inclusive design or accessibility
Solid organizational and multi-tasking skills
Willingness to learn and take direction from others
Ability to lead teams as a SME with operational knowledge and guidance

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. As of the date of this posting, In addition to your salary, UHG offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: Health, dental, and vision plans; wellness program; flexible spending accounts; paid parking or public transportation costs; 401(k) retirement plan; employee stock purchase plan; life insurance, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance; business travel accident insurance; Employee Assistance Program; PTO; and employee-paid critical illness and accident insurance.

Salary Range: $80000 - $142000
