The Remote Web Accessibility Specialist is responsible for doing accessibility QA, providing accessibility consultations, and working with the UX Research and Web Analytics Lead. The Remote Web Accessibility Specialist will review page builds to determine conformance with WCAG 2.1 accessibility criteria and will work with development to explain and resolve issues. This is a remote opportunity.

Remote Web Accessibility Specialist Responsibilities:

Review pages / flows for WCAG 2.1 AA conformance (or a pre-defined sub-set of standards)
Identify conformance issues
Communicate expected changes to development in an effective way that focuses on creating a shared understanding
Help provide visibility into the status of web accessibility as it moves through the accessibility QA and remediation process
Monitor progress of the page to ensure that agreed-upon criteria are met before launch of the page / flow to production
Proactively suggest ways to reduce accessibility QA time and/or make accessibility QA more seamless
As new components are built for the client’s site or other digital properties, consult with dev on accessibility best practices for that component
Work with development and UX to develop QA documents and processes that build shared understanding on web accessibility requirements and how to meet them
Be the “go-to” person for questions about web accessibility
As needed, conduct training with development, design, and or content providers on the importance of web accessibility and how it intersects with their work
Work with UX Research and Web Analytics lead to understand current roadmap and vision for web accessibility at the client’s website
Provide input / work with UX Research and Web Analytics lead to refine the roadmap
Evangelize and advocate for roadmap with various stakeholder groups


Remote Web Accessibility Specialist Requirements:

Demonstrated subject-matter expertise in web accessibility – specifically WCAG 2.1 standards
Prior experience in web accessibility auditing, consulting, and training
Prior experience implementing accessibility fixes with a software development team
Additional expertise in content writing, UX research, or SEO research a plus
