Job Description:

Bank of America is standing up its digital Accessibility Center of Excellence (COE) to re-architect its vast array of web applications and digital documents that are inaccessible to people who are blind or visually impaired. We are seeking a Senior Technical Leader, well versed with Leading and Implementing large Accessibility Programs, to lead and grow a team, and to re-architect and deliver training needs across multiple line of businesses and make all of our digital properties more accessible.

The Senior Technical Accessibility Leader will be responsible for providing visionary leadership, building the team and ensuring successful delivery of our digital accessibility Programs. This person will be leading all aspects of Accessibility COE including:

ADA compliance
Internal training communication and plan
Addressing opportunities related to customer engagement and creating simple accessible experience
Managing the Roadmap, inventory of pages and sites to be converted, addressing a scalable approach for the transition and implementing the plan to convert assets over to being accessible
Conducting customer research, usability tests and gathering feedback from users to improve the ease of use of various aspects of the websites
Core part of this role will be ensuring that our websites and applications are accessible to all people and compliant with ADA guidelines

Key Skill Sets or Knowledge Requirements:

An entrepreneurial spirit in which you take ownership of all aspects of accessibility
Exposure to HTML5, CSS3 & JavaScript and ADA compliance-related issues
Web and Mobile design experience
Excellent organizational and communication skills
A strong commitment to meeting high expectations of end users
A strong understanding of ADA web development best practice and design methods
Ability to partner with various cross-functional teams for direction and consistency - providing leadership when necessary
Ability to interpret and advise on standards, principles and techniques for meeting accessibility success criteria (including WCAG 2.0 AA, WCAG 2.1 AA, and WAI-ARIA)
Detailed knowledge on WCAG 2.0 AAA including limitations of the specific guidelines
Understanding the overlap between user experience and accessibility
Understanding the strategies of persons with disabilities in using assistive technology for the Web apps
Familiarity with Responsive web design and mobile apps
Experience / Expertise using shortcuts and keystrokes
Experience / Expertise with JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver
Experience with Accessibility Management Platform (AMP)

Career Experience & Education Requirements:

10 years with ADA / Web Accessibility Guidelines and standards
Experience and passion for creating sites that are accessible to all people including knowing what makes a site ADA compliant
Solid track record of successful UX design, UI design & development with an emphasis on intuitive, slick, modern designs and workflows
Experience with a user-centered design process and conducting Accessibility tests
Ability to promote and share the importance of accessibility
A thorough understanding of why and how to build products that are accessible to everyone, essentially for those with disabilities


Desired Certification:

Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS)
Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
